Who Can Join?
The League is comprised of honorably discharged as well as reserve and active duty Marines and FMF Navy Corpsmen with over 90 days of service. Those individuals that want to participate with the Marine Corps League but do not otherwise qualify may join as Associate Members. Are you a Marine Corps League Member?

FAMILY OF FALLEN MARINE GIVEN NAVY CROSS

Secretary Ray Mabus said that 20 year-old Lance Cpl. Donald Hogan is "now
part of Marine lore along with the great heroes of the Corps," as he
presented the fallen hero's parents with the Navy Cross on Jan. 17. He said
Hogan's actions placed him among the "bravest and finest" in the Marines.
Mabus spoke in front of the new barracks at Camp Pendleton, Calif., which
will be named after Hogan, who was from nearby San Clemente. The barracks
will house more than 1,000 troops wounded in the war and those resting.
Hogan was killed in 2009 in Helmand province in Afghanistan while on patrol.
The rifleman had volunteered to wear a metal detector that day and help look
for explosive devices. He spotted a kite string on the road go taut in
Taliban territory, a sign that a roadside bomb was about to go off. He flew
into action, hurling his body into a fellow Marine and then running to the
road to yell a warning to the rest of his squad before the blast killed him.
Hogan had wanted to join the Marine Corps since he was a young boy.

Proud Honors of the Detachment & Unit
We're
the proud home of some of our members who have held National honors throughout
the years. Honors earned by our members include: National Commandant: Robert N.
Forsyth (1984-85); National Auxiliary President: Sally Strickland (1984-85)
National Marine of the Year: Barry M. Georgopulos (1999); National Madam Big
Flea: Sally Strickland (1987-88) and Beatrice Georgopulos (1992-93).
Four (4) of the Detachment Members also served as Rocky Mountain Division Vice Commandant's over the years. They are Al Moore (1975-78); Robert N. Forsyth (1978-81); Barry M. Georgopulos (1984-87) and Tom Krueger (2007-09, 2009-11)
